Why do online stores charge extra for cash on delivery?
Because COD orders cost the seller more. Couriers charge a cash-handling fee on every COD parcel, the money reaches the seller days later, and COD parcels are refused at the door far more often than prepaid ones. Every refused parcel is shipped out and back at the seller's cost. Stores recover this with a COD fee, a shipping charge on cash orders, or by limiting COD on high-value orders. Paying online removes those costs, which is why prepaid orders often get free shipping or a discount.
Is paying online safe when you shop in India?
Yes, when the store uses a regulated payment gateway. With a gateway such as PayU, you enter your UPI, card or netbanking details on the gateway's secure page, not on the store's servers, so the store never sees or stores your card number. Check that the payment page shows the gateway's name, use UPI or a card with transaction alerts on, and keep the order number. If an order never ships, the gateway and your bank provide a dispute route.

Yes. Cash on delivery is available on orders up to ₹1,500. Larger orders can be paid online by UPI, card or netbanking.
Do coupons work with cash on delivery?
